ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR!
Hello! My name is Michele, and I am the instructor for the Twilight Twirlers. Since I was 5 years old, Baton Twirling and Dance have always managed to be a big part of my life. At the age of 5, my parents enrolled me in almost every type of class my teacher provided. I enjoyed gaining experience in jazz, tap, poms, ballet, and Baton Twirling. And being a part of many different twirl and dance teams. Baton Twirling has always stuck out, because it is such a original and different skill.
I was very fortunate in being able to participate in local competitons with baton twirling and dance. It was very exciting as a child to be blessed with a few USTA Titles. And USTA (United States Twirling Association) has always stayed important to me.
I now have 25+ years experience in baton twirling. I am also a professional certified USTA (United States Twirling Association) Instructor. Something I have always wanted to accomplish, and something I try to continue to grow in.
The sport of Baton Twirling is so rare these days(although growing), that to accept any new students, is a HUGE blessing. And still, so much can come from learning baton twirling.. it helps to develop coordination of the entire body, concentration and motor skills. And in the future those who learn can have memories of twirling in their school's band, as well as earn scholarships for College even among many other opportunities! But regardless of a child's goals, just in knowing how to twirl is a skill not many get to experience, and some are dumb founded by it. And how fun it is to learn!
I have such a passion to teach and help others learn the exciting sport of baton twirling. Whether it be to just learn to do it for the fun of it, or to compete and go further.
I believe that with the knowledge behind my experience in baton twirling, I am able to offer the best I can for any student, no matter what experience they may or may not have. I can only hope that parents and students will be as equally blessed, as I am to teach.

About our group!
Our group started in the summer of (2003) with some previous students of mine. I had become ill the previous year, and was not able to teach for some time, until a few of us began up again last summer. It has since grown from 4 girls that summer, to about 18 girls. What a great bunch they are too!
Not only will students be learning twirling, but will be taught dance steps as well. This is very necessary to learn to move the body as well as the baton. When we learn routines, there will be dance involved with twirling the baton, otherwise could be quite boring.
All new students for the first 2 classes will not be required to have their own baton. It is recommended to purchase one, if you child has no doubt that they want to continue to learn to twirl! I have a limited collection of my own batons to share with everyone, and can't allow new students to take them home, except if there is a particular reason, but it just is not fair to others. So the first lesson or two is not required, but I recommend the purchase of their own so they can take it home and practice what they have learned. I can take their measurments and order a baton for you, as it needs to be a professionally balanced baton.
NOTE TO ALL:
Practice is very important! It is hard to advance in Baton Twirling if a student does not practice. It is amazing what a little practice as much as a child can do, can help them (as well as the class) progress on to new and exciting things.
